Bellydance, the oldest solo dance in the world, has originated from the pre-historic Middle-East. This dance is a secular descendent of an ancient mystery tradition whose existence predates recorded history. It was created by women as a therapy dance and as an artistic celebration of the power of Nature. The dance is a ritual of experiencing Nature’s beauty and wholeness as oneself -- the radiance that can not be acquired in beauty salons.
Many of the dance’s intricate body isolations, particularly pelvic and abdominal, are yogic in nature and result in the same awareness of/ attunement to the flow of prana (the lifeforce) in the body as does a serious yoga practice.
This dance has gained love and appreciation well beyond its home countries. It is now performed by dancers of all ages who experience it as an artistic medium for boundless creativity. Learn the dance that is graceful, wild, self-affirming and liberating.
