Our Yoga Method is the original "Grandmother" style of the popular Vinyasa, Hatha, Kundalini, Bikram, Raja and Tantra Yoga traditions and has been carefully preserved and developed from the original teachings of Yoga Master Krishnamacharya, the founder of Modern Yoga. We strive to make Yoga accessible to people of all abilities, ages, health background and spiritual beliefs. When you start practicing Yoga at our Studio you will experience the most amazing Yoga that exists: the Yoga of Life, Breath and Relationship!
The Yoga Method of Krishnamacharya
is a carefully-designed, innovative and complete system of Yoga Theory and Practice. Unique to this Yoga Method, is the therapeutic application of Yoga Asanas(postures), done progressively with proper breath synchronization and counterposes. The Yoga Method of Krishnamacharya is the most accurate, comprehensive and complete system of Yoga available in the world today.
There is only one way to do Yoga right -- when we synchronize our Body Movement to the Breath Movement using Asanas (Yoga Poses), the Bandhas (Body Locks) and smooth, long Yogic Breathing(Ujayi). This practice achieves the integration of our Consiousness with the individual and collective lifeforce or Cosmic Prana.
Iyengar Method emphasizes safe body alignment and we incorporate Iyengar's concepts of safety, while Ashtanga method focuses on extending the length of the breath: one breath per one movement, creating a more vigorous, dynamic practice.
Both Iyengar and Ashtanga methods were creating by students of Krishnamacharya. At our studio we add an additional emphasis on the dynamic application of the 3 Bandhas to achieve an optimal balance of safety, strength and relaxation in the practice.
The goal of Yoga besides the radiant health and the peace of mind that it naturally brings, is also the experience of "Samadhi" or "Advaita Darshana", which is a state of self-understanding. This state is experienced by directing our attention one-pointedly towards the energetics of the Ujayii Pranayama continiously moving in the body. The success of our Yoga practice is measured by the continuity and strength of this life-long relationship.
