ABOUT T.KRISHNAMACHARYA:
Thirumalai Krishnamacharya was an esteemed Yoga Master from Chennai, India, and his teaching are considered by many to be the heart
of modern Yoga.
T.Krishnamacharya was the teacher of famous B.K.Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois who have developed their own yoga styles (known as the Iyengar and Ashtanga Yoga) based on their studies with Krishnamacharya.
Unique to Krishnamacharys's teaching is the therapeutic application of breath in each and every asana which has a grounding and cleansing effect on our system. Breath-centered yoga practice done with complete attention is capable to regulate the flow of prana(the lifeforce) in the body. In Krishnamacharya's approach, Yoga Asanas are not to be practiced for their own sake, but as stepping stones to achieve a deeper, smoother and calmer quality of breath known in sanskrit as"Ujayii".
